JAKARTA, Kroniktoday.com – Indonesia is ready to hold the 7th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) meeting in Bali on May 23-28, 2022.
This was confirmed by The Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster in a meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN Secretary General) for Disaster Risk Reduction Mami Mizutori, at the Governor’s Office Bali, Friday (04/22/2022).
“We are very happy to be the host. We are ready in terms of facilities and infrastructure, especially we have special attention in the risk of disaster,” said the Governor of Bali.
Bali already has a disaster mitigation system and management. Wayan mentioned that Bali is considered by the central government as the best province in detection, early warning, and post-disaster handling.
“We have carried out a preparedness simulation every 26th of every month by training young people, school students to detect disasters and educate about disaster risks,” said the Governor. Bali exemplifies.
In handling the COVID-19 pandemic, Wayan explained that Bali also implemented a local wisdom system in support of central government policies. One of them is the implementation of banjar-based vaccinations.
“We involve indigenous villages to mobilize residents so that it runs well and the vaccination coverage is fastest in Indonesia,” he said.
